Boston in January? Everyone kept warning me about the cold: Minus 10, minus 22, minus 30 Celsius. But after a powerful Sales Kick-Off, I’m reminded that perspective is everything.
From Disruption to the ‘New Normal’
The same can be said for some of the major transformations we’ve navigated before: the internet, search, mobile, and social.
Each one felt extremely disruptive but over time became the “new normal.” Can you imagine not having WIFI, Google, a cell phone or social media? But alongside these technology transformations, another, more fundamental shift was happening in how we handle the data behind it all.
The Evolution of Data Management
First, the challenge was to unify the data, to bring order to the silos scattered across the enterprise. Then, we entered the age of protection and governance, building walls to keep data safe and in the right hands. Both were necessary steps to get us here, to the real opportunity: to understanding and activating it; the real shift for data from being an organizational-wide liability into an enterprise asset.
This brings us to AI. This isn’t just another technology disruption; it’s a current that runs deeper, reshaping the very nature of the workplace.
The Productivity Promise
The conversations at our SKO with our team, partners and customers confirmed a simple truth: this isn’t about the models or the hype, it’s about the profound gains in productivity. When we remove friction from daily work, the entire enterprise accelerates. Decisions are faster, operations are stronger, and our teams have more space to innovate.
The Data Readiness Gap
Most organizations are eager to harness AI, but there is a catch. Their data is not ready. It’s scattered, locked at the edge, hard to move, even harder to understand. That gap between potential and reality is where the real work is.
Our Mission: From Storing to Activating Data
In a world that often values promises over delivery, our customers define trust through stability and consistency. This principle is the bedrock of our strategy. As we innovate, we are equally committed to delivering solutions that simply work, every time.
We are also building for a new kind of user. The future is not just about human or machine generated data, but agents talking to agents, agentic AI. This requires a fundamental rethinking of how data platforms are architected and how value is created.
This all leads to a clear and simple mission for us as a company: The future doesn’t belong to those who merely store the most data. It belongs to those who can understand and activate it.
The Road Ahead
There is nothing more powerful than bringing our team together…face to face. That energy and shared purpose from our time in Boston is what will drive us as we execute on this mission. I have never been more confident in our team or more excited about the road ahead.
Boston, as it turned out, was warmer than anyone expected.
