Looking Back at 1H2021: What We Achieved and Where We’re Going

It’s hard to believe the first half of 2021 is already in the books; I think it might have moved faster than CTERA Direct!

From the launch of our #WorkFromEverywhere remote work suite to new deployments across diverse verticals and a slew of industry and partner awards, it’s been a fun and hyperactive six months at CTERA. In case you missed anything, here’s a quick recap.

Strong Customer Adoption Across Key Verticals

Enterprise demand for modern file storage has never been greater than in the post-pandemic era. CTERA’s global sales team has been swamped with demo and information requests all year long across every industry we support. But above all, our momentum in the U.S. federal sector continues at a most impressive pace. We have secured deal wins for government-approved cloud service providers with major agencies within the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Department of Defense – and that’s just the start.

Why is Federal turning to CTERA? Because we tick the boxes that other file storage products can’t, including anywhere, anytime availability for mission critical data; high-performance file transfer; DoDIN APL certification; 100% private deployments; and more.

Put simply, we enable federal agencies that have been traditionally hamstrung by highly stringent data security requirements to pursue file services modernization projects much more freely than they ever have been able to. Stay tuned to this space for more details on how we’re capitalizing on an immense opportunity with federal.

On the commercial/enterprise side of the table, we’re seeing major expansions with existing customers as well as new deployments across key verticals. U.S. manufacturer American Engineering Testing deployed hybrid cloud file system, CTERA’s new HC100 edge filers to allow rapid access to large files with remote offices and external clients, including locations with unreliable WAN connectivity.

Louisville, Kentucky ad agency Doe-Anderson adopted CTERA’s global file system to consolidate legacy storage systems with fast secure remote access to large media files. CTERA’s solution enabled Doe-Anderson to maintain “business as usual” after its employees transitioned to WFH following the COVID outbreak. Doe-Anderson joins a who’s who of media firms that we’re proud to call CTERA customers, including Wunderman Thompson, WPP, Live Nation, et al.

HPE Edge-to-Cloud Partner of the Year

What a great honor it was to be chosen by HPE as its Edge-to-Cloud Momentum Partner of the Year for 2021! Winners were “selected based on financial performance, innovative solutions, and ability to drive transformative business outcomes for shared customers,” which is a testament to CTERA and HPE’s common vision and relentless commitment to edge-to-cloud data management.

In practice this looks like many new and existing joint customers, such as Fortis Solutions Group, Irish Prison Service, and many others. It’s also represented in unified edge-to-cloud solutions like CTERA File for HPE HCI, in which any HPE HCI customer can download a CTERA filer and start their journey to modern multi-cloud file services.

As well, we recently joined HPE ENGAGE & GROW, a partner incentive program that rewards channel partners for selling across the HPE portfolio. We’re thrilled to be an HPE partner and can’t wait to see where we go from here.

A Remarkable Run of Industry Recognition

2021 has brought a string of industry awards and recognition that has cemented the CTERA Enterprise File Services Platform as the most innovative modern file infrastructure technology in the market.

In March, we won Storage Innovation of the Year in the Data Breakthrough Awards for innovations released in CTERA 7.0. We also were named Best in Global File Services in Storage Newsletter’s Best Storage Products of 2021 and earned a placement in CRN’s 2021 Partner Program Guide. In April CTERA was recognized as a TOP 5 solution for enterprise NAS consolidation by DCIG.

Then, in the 19th Annual American Business Awards® in May, CTERA won a Gold Stevie® Award in the Cloud Storage category, in recognition of our breakthrough global file system technology. I loved reading the judges’ comments about our platform, knowing they reviewed many other products in our space and found ours to be most worthy of taking home the gold:

  • “I was impressed by CTERA in how they leverage advanced technology to accelerate deployment of cloud services and eliminate the costs associated with file servers, backup servers and tape drives.”
  • “CTERA 7.0 delivers the fastest, most secure, and complete global file system in the industry.”
  • “Having a globally distributed file system is a huge benefit for employee productivity in any company.”

CTERA Remote Work Suite – Taking File Services to the Far Edge

One of today’s primary IT challenges is to ensure fast and secure access to corporate data from small offices and WFH users – aka the “far edge” of the network. Our newly launched remote work solutions, featuring the small form factor CTERA Edge HC100 and CTERA Drive Connect agent for Windows and MacOS, enables enterprises to securely extend LAN-speed access to corporate file shares for remote users while preserving consistent folder structures, permissions, and access control.

Anything Else?

Beyond all of the above, we packed as much as we could into 1H21, such as Tech Live (hosted by A3 Communications) and the IT Press Tour, where we briefed enterprise IT media, analysts, and influencers.

And for the second consecutive year we also hosted virtual summits for North American and International customers that were very well attended and received.

There’s a lot more coming in the second half of the year that we can’t wait to tell you about. Until then – all the best from the CTERA Team.
